What to expect. . .

It is important that your animals/pets look good for their photo shoot. Dogs should be bathed, brushed, clipped, etc, to look their best. If you use a professional groomer you should consider having your animals groomed shortly before your appointment for optimal photogenics. Cats, both long and short hair, should be thoroughly brushed before the shoot to minimize shedding and also to improve their images on film.

Animals should be free of fleas, ticks, and other parasites, etc. When you first make your contract agreement with PET SHOTZ please let us know if your animals/pets have any infectious diseases. We need to safeguard our clientele and we must know in advance if your animals have anything that could be transmitted to another client's pets. If the photographer finds fleas or ticks on your pet during the shoot we are under so obligation to continue the shoot, but you will be charged the full amount. This is to protect all our clientele. We are sure you understand and appreciate your cooperation.

Also know that your photographer will NOT have grooming tools. We are a photography business, not groomers, so please have your animals/pets looking their best in time for your scheduled appointment.

If you or your family want to be included in the pictures, you might want to consider your attire as well. While you may dress as formally or informally as you desire, most people opt for casual or "business casual" clothes for photographs with their pets. It is entirely up to you how you want to appear in your pictures. Regardless, please have everyone ready in time for your appointment.

Your photographer will set up all photographic equipment as quickly as possible in the designated area, but this will take several minutes. You may be asked to move a few furniture items, etc, in order to make room for all the photo equipment. We also ask that you be aware of any small items on nearby tables or shelves that could be accidentally knocked off and broken during the shoot. This may be of particular concern if the photographer has to work in a tight space. While we take care to leave every home as we found it, inevitably, accidents do happen so we try to prevent them if at all possible. An ounce of prevention is indeed worth a pound of cure. We are not responsible for broken items in your home if they are inside of or near the photo shoot area.

Also, your photographer and any assistants will wear either clean "indoor only" shoes or "shoe covers" to protect your floors and carpets from dirt. We try our best to "leave it as we found it."

While your photographer is setting up equipment please keep children and pets clear of the area. We will have a background on stands, lightstands, a 35mm camera on a tripod, electrical cords and power strips, etc, and they are not only expensive but also potential hazards. Please keep this in mind at all times. If you have an animal that is wary of strangers you might want to bring it in during set up to help it get used to the photographer and equipment but please keep it under restraint. No one wants to be bitten by any animal. Thank you.

Your photographer will take numerous pictures of your animals and pets, with or without you at your discretion, in order to get a number of quality shots. Please know that some animals are "natural models" but far more are very difficult to photograph. Your photographer will have several toys and noisemakers to get your animals' attention and capture just the right look or expression for the camera. While it only takes a second to get that great shot, it could take quite awhile to get to that one second. Your patience and help are required to optimize the success of your photo shoot. You will be asked to help control your animal but please work under the direction of your photographer. We are all about serving you but we need your help to produce the photographs you deserve. We thank you in advance for your help and cooperation.

When your photographer has captured several excellent shots of your pet, your photographs will be uploaded to a laptop computer where they will be edited as needed then downloaded to a compact disk (CD) and given to you right in your own home. Also, you will be able to preview the pictures then your photographer will print out one 8"x10" print of your choice, again, right in your home. You will get your pictures on CD plus one 8" x 10" print of your choice right in the comfort of your home, all at no addtional charge. This is included in the standard 35mm digital PET SHOTZ package. 

If you order the 35mm PRINT FILM package, then your prints will be MAILED TO YOU after they have been professionally developed. You are still required to pay the balance due the day of your photo session, however, and there is an additional $10 charge to cover costs of professional film, professional processing, and mailing. Also note that since print film must be professionally developed, you will NOT receive a free 8" x 10" print with the print film package. Unless you buy all rights to the photographs from your photo shoot, you also will NOT receive the negatives but you can have copies made in any size and quantity from any photo developer at nominal cost.  

While we retain all rights to our photographs unless you purchase rights separately, we understand some of our clients do want enlargements or extra copies for family and friends. As a courtesy to you, your photographer will provide you a signed Photographer's Release Form that you may give to your own photo processor in order to obtain extra prints. This will be particularly helpful for our 35mm print film customers. While our digital customers may prefer to print out their own pictures at home, they, too can take their CD to a film developer for extra prints using the provided Photographer's Release Form. Please be advised these prints are for your personal enjoyment only and are not to be copied, sold, submitted for publication, calendars, contests, etc, under penalty of law.

If you did not make payment in full [in person, by mail, or online] at the time of your initial contract agreement, then the remaining 50% balance is due at the end of the photo shoot for BOTH digital and print film customers. Please pay your photographer the remaining balance either by cash or personal check the day of your appointment. 

Note there is a $50.00 returned check fee, and we WILL turn accounts 30 days past due over for collection.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We reserve the right to refuse service to anyone we deem as a threat or danger to the photographer and/or assistants, our equipment, etc. Should our photographer arrive at your home and find you, your family, or friends obviously under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or other controlled substances, including prescription drugs, or we feel "uneasy" for any reason, we will leave and send you a bill for the full amount due. Therefore, please be prepared to uphold your part of the contract and show us the same courtesy we extend to you. Thank you for your consideration and understanding. We appreciate it!

After your photo package has been delivered to you, your photographer will pack up all photo equipment and help you return your items to their rightful places if needed. Please extend your courtesy to the photographer who has a lot of equipment to repack quickly and securely. Our goal is to leave your home as quickly as possible - and as we found it - but we do have to pack our expensive equipment securely. Again, we thank you for your understanding.

Our goal is to please you, our valued customer, in every aspect of the photographic process. We will work with you - and for you - always, and we will do everything we can to make sure you are satisfied. While we cannot be responsible for equipment failure and malfunction, weather conditions, etc, we will take responsibility for things that we feel are due to our own failures. Please know that our promise to you is that we will work with you on any issue or problem and will resolve it your satisfaction. Thank you for trusting PET SHOTZ for all your animal pictures.

Should it be necessary for you to cancel your appointment, kindly give us at least 24 hours notice. Since we travel to our clients we need to know about cancellations as soon as possible. We will gladly refund your money - or reschedule your appointment, as you prefer - for 24 hour cancellation notice. For less than 24 hours notice, your money will NOT be refunded.

Also, should your photographer arrive at the scheduled date and time and you either are not home or unable to allow the photo shoot, then you will be billed the full amount of the photo shoot. Our time is valuable and our major expense is in travel so me must hold our clients to a binding contract. We are sure you understand and we thank you for your cooperation.

Should inclement weather, acts of war, terrorism, etc, delay the photo shoot, we will gladly refund your money or reschedule your appointment, as you prefer.

Should your photographer be unable to keep the appointment, we will gladly refund your money in full or reschedule your appointment, as you prefer. We offer 10% off any rescheduled photo session where the cancellation was the fault of PET SHOTZ.

Please understand that you are paying PET SHOTZ ONLY for the service of photographing your animals and pets. We retain all rights to these photographs. You may not reproduce, copy, edit, sell, re-sell, transfer electronically or digitally, enter them in contests, publications, etc, without express written permission of Kathy McBride, owner of PET SHOTZ. All photographs are copyrighted by Ms. McBride and she is sole owner of them. However, you may use and alter the photographs at your own discretion FOR YOUR OWN PERSONAL USE ONLY. We have tried to be thorough but it's very possible we have overlooked something or you have a question we haven't answered. We work as quickly and efficiently as possible. Regardless, we have equipment to set up and then repack, which will take anywhere from 30 to 40 minutes, EACH. The photo session can last up to an hour or more, depending on the animals. Addtionally, our digital package customers will have their photos uploaded to a laptop, edited, and then downloaded to a CD, as well as one 8" x 10" printed out right on site. All of this takes time. We ask that you dedicate at least four hours to your appointment. While most sessions don't take nearly that long, we need the time necessary to deliver to you the quality photo package you deserve.
